Welcome to the Women's Ministry outreach guide. Before you begin reading about this outreach, we’d like to make sure you know what you need to about San Francisco’s inner city by visiting the Backstory Page.
What is it?
Connecting with and loving women in the area who are dealing with homelessness, domestic abuse, or disabilities. The volunteers will be giving out gifts, resources and services (hand and feet massages) for women to receive. The goal for volunteers will be to invest time into loving and getting to know these women who often have no connections or relationships outside the shelters and inviting them into our church family on a regular basis.
Women in the inner city are among the most vulnerable and hurting. Leaders in the community often take advantage of their influence to oppress and control others. Much of what City Impact does is to help those who cannot help themselves and protect those who cannot protect themselves. Women's ministry is to stand in the one of widest gaps and to restore dignity.
With a leader from City Impact, you and a small group will gather and put together cards and women's gifts to hand out to the vulnerable women on the streets as well as the buildings. You will also be given fliers to hand out to any women you see walking on the streets or in their buildings interested in getting more connected.
There are 30,000 residents of the Tenderloin. Many of the women are taken advantage of and left in despair to put their lives back together. The darkness of drugs, abuse, neglect, homelessness, and lack of beneficial relationships is a reality for many of the women that we will engage. Many of these women do not leave their buildings because of fear or seek love through an oppressive influence. We have the opportunity to shed light into their lives through Jesus. Short term connections reap long term relationships by connecting back to the City Impact family that will be here the next day.
