Welcome to the Visitations outreach guide. Before you begin reading about this outreach, we’d like to make sure you know what you need to about San Francisco’s inner city by visiting the Backstory Page.
What is it?
Visitations is when we go out before the Carnival and invite kids in the buildings. We knock on doors and let them know what is going on if they hadn’t heard about our event and personally invite them and their families to come. This may also include picking up or escorting kids to the event as well. If they cannot come, we are still able to inform them of our other children’s outreaches that City Impact has.
There is something very powerful about knocking on someone’s door and personally inviting them. Visitations is something our children’s ministry leaders do consistently throughout the week, but with the help of volunteers, we will be able to visit multiple buildings in a short amount of time.
With a leader from City Impact, you and a small group will go into a family building and knock on doors inviting families to the Kids Carnival. You will also be given fliers to hand out to any families you see walking on the streets or in their buildings.
Although a family may not decide to come to the event, they will not easily forget that someone knocked on their door. In addition to that, you leave behind the fact that the invitation was entirely free and you asked for nothing in return. Our goal in visitation is to leave an impression that instead of just waiting for them, we are willing to go and reach out to them.
