Welcome to the Tenderloin (TL) Scrubdown outreach guide. Before you begin reading about this outreach, we’d like to make sure you know what you need to about San Francisco’s inner city by visiting the Backstory Page.
What is it?
The TL Scrubdown team truly serves the city by cleaning the streets and sidewalks of the inner city of San Francisco.
Imagine your neighbors do not see the value in keeping your neighborhood clean. The street seems like one big landfill and litter box and as much as the city tries, they can’t always keep up. Imagine your young loved ones having to weave through the waste to get to school. What does this do to your self-esteem? What does it do for your morale? Now, imagine that the Church arrives to clean and restore dignity to the street. There’s an incredible opportunity to witness to this community and city through the simple act of serving.
As a part of the TL Scrubdown team, you will report to the 100 block of Jones after the morning session ends. There you will be briefed by one of our City Impact leaders on the rules and basics to cleaning the street. You will then be broken into groups of about 8-15 and will have another City Impact leader to obtain the cleaning supplies for the team. Your leader will then guide you on a designated route. During your time, our hope is for you to serve the community through cleaning it.
It means a lot for the people in this community for have their streets clean and cared for. We hope to undo the damage of those who do not care and restore dignity to the neighborhood and this team can make it happen!
