Welcome to the Social Services outreach guide. Before you begin reading about this outreach, we’d like to make sure you know what you need to about San Francisco’s inner city by visiting the Backstory Page.
What is it?
The Social Services team is so important to connect those in need to greater resources and services. They will have the opportunity to hear someone's story, pray for them, share Jesus' love with them.
Many people around the community have little help or no one to advocate for them. Often the issue is not a lack of services or resources the city can offer but a lack of care, love and attention. Pastor Roger, Founder of City Impact says, "It is in the listening we learn someone's hurts and needs, and then we can minister to them." This is an opportunity to go deep with someone and hear their story before connecting them to resources.
As a part of the Social Services team, you will be briefed by your leader on your approach and training on how to work closely with individuals with a lot of trauma and potentially chronic issues. Team members will utilize provided Holistic Prescriptions to help patients reconnect with the clinic and services at City Impact. Please prescribe at least one service to every patient.
By providing resources and information about services in the city, we hope to help them meet their needs and find full healing in Jesus. This is a huge incarnational ministry opportunity and coming alongside someone's hurts and needs. Where love and care is often missing in relationships, we have the chance to share about how much someone is loved and known in Christ.
