Welcome to the San Francisco City Academy BBQ! We are an outreach team for Child Sponsors to connect with their sponsored student. Before you begin reading about this outreach, we’d like to make sure you know what you need to about San Francisco’s inner city by visiting the Backstory Page.
What is it?
San Francisco City Academy (SFCA) is a private, Christian, K-8 school as a part of City Impact’s ministries. We are looking to connect with our SFCA families, and mobilize our Child Sponsors to empower and equip our students for the upcoming school year. Our vision for this outreach is to connect the sponsor and child as well as grow the relationship with SFCA families as recipients and advocates.
During the summer, kids out of school can get very lonely. In fact, some kids go from park to park to find community, a safe place, and someone to care. The SFCA BBQ outreach team is here to love on the kids of the Tenderloin at our event, and engage with parents in conversations about their kids, and our school! One of the main purposes of our school is to display the love of Christ for our students, and we want to be well known amongst the parents and kids of the TL as a safe place to grow and thrive academically, socially, spiritually, and physically.
As a part of the SFCA BBQ, you will report to the Taylor Parking Lot after the morning session. As you arrive, your City Impact leader will assign you to a specific duty either for the morning or for a rotational session. These jobs include handing out backpacks, talking with parents, and kids, cheering on our school, and more.
We believe that your energy, joy, and love for these families will win the trust and friendship of the people you serve, and an equipped student with a backpack full of supplies will be a mere bonus. You can change the course of someone’s day here, maybe even their life.
