Welcome to the Security team outreach guide. Before you begin reading about this outreach, we’d like to make sure you know what you need to about San Francisco’s inner city by visiting the Backstory Page.
What is it?
The Security team is a safety presence for all of those involved in the Conference. As a member of the security team, you will be stationed at either our Block Party, Kids Carnival & Sports Bash, or one of our sites. You will assist us by watching entrances, greeting people, and intervening in conflicts.
In our large events, we are passionate about reaching the lost of the Tenderloin while allowing believers to experience what it is like to serve and save the lost. Due to the scale, it is difficult for those who are running the individual outreaches to also ensure that both the volunteers and the guests are safe and behaving properly. It is critical that strong men and women step-up to be a part of this team - we could not have an event without it.
After the morning session, you will report to the 100 Block of Jones where you will be briefed by one of our City Impact leaders on how to monitor entrances and exits, and more importantly, what you should be looking out for and how to tactfully confront and resolve conflicts. You will then be assigned to various positions.
The Security team is made of the unsung heroes - this team enables all volunteers to be able to serve and minister in peace and safety. We couldn’t imagine our outreaches without strong security teams so it is vital that people sign-up for this.
